| If you are unfamiliar
with Clarke County (Virginia's second smallest county!), this
area of the Shenandoah Valley is beautiful and historic in all
seasons of the year. For example, within four miles of our
farm is Historic
Long Branch (an elegantly furnished
estate home available for tours), a working
gristmill and antique shops in the charming
village of Millwood, a nationally famous French restaurant, L'Auberge
Provencale (for more affluent gourmets), and
the educational State
Arboretum of Virginia at Blandy Experimental Farm.
All these facilities are open to the public. You may also
like to discover the Tour
de Virginia.
We are also only six
miles east of Winchester, and there is a great deal of
interest in this valley town (George Washington's office, the
Stonewall Jackson house, Museum of the Shenandoah Valley and
more). Visit the Winchester-Frederick
County Chamber of Commerce for more
information. And yes, there is a white post in White Post,
Virginia! The original post was erected by young George
Washington around 1750 to direct travelers to the nearby home
of Lord Fairfax.
We hope you enjoy your visit to
our part of the world and that you will tell your friends.
